Find Local Resources

Yes, there is help! When it became apparent that my family needed to find out what resources were available to help us with caring for Mom, I wasn't sure where to look for help. A friend told me to look up our local county's Department of Aging Services. It was a huge relief to talk to someone that could answer my questions. For example, the Aging and Disability Resource Center can a helpful resource for answering questions and providing information needed to begin searching for long term care. The woman that I spoke with in the local county where my mom lived was very kind and caring, and it was comforting to talk with someone that knew what I was going through. I wasn't sure what kind of facility would be best for my mom. Did we need to find an Assisted Living facility, a Community Based Residential facility (CBRF), or a nursing care facility? What was the difference? The Aging and Disability Resource Center was able to provide a listing of local care options that detailed level of care, costs, and also stated if Medicaid was accepted. Listed below are some helpful resources.
